We went to Ponte Vecchio. It is a medieval bridge over the Arno River. There are still shops along the bridge as in earlier times. They used to be fishermen and butchers but the people got tired of the smell. Now it's mostly jewelers, art dealers and souvenir sellers.

The cathedral of Florence known for its distinctive Renaissance dome. Its name ("Saint Mary of the Flower") refers to the lily, the symbol of Florence. The impressive Gothic cathedral complex includes the Duomo, the famous baptistery and a campanile. To climb to the top you have to climb nearly 500 steps!
Needless to say we decided to not climb these since we climbed St. Peters dome just yesterday! Our legs are a bit tired. We will get a good view of the city from Piazzale Michelangelo. The Piazzale itself overlooks one of the most famous and magnificent city views in the world: from here you can see the whole of Florence at a glance.

We went back to the train station and caught the train back to Rome. It takes about an hour and a half!
